ABOUT ME

Aliya Brooks, a young business owner and creator of "Ageless MoBility" - a passion project started with her 92-year-old grandmother, Millie, in 2020. With a lifetime of experience stretching and performing dance routines with her grandmother since age 3, Aliya has always valued physical movement.

From numerous experiences watching Millie teach ballet, stretching, Graham technique dance, and posture classes in her home, Aliya and her mother quickly became Millie’s personal assistants.

Driven by her love of wellness and fitness, Aliya is a certified Stretching and Flexibility certification with NASM, and is currently working to earn her Yoga teacher certification. Her passion for mobility runs deep, having been a national gymnast for 11 years, a dedicated dancer for 10 years, and a former competitive tennis player. Her commitment to a healthy lifestyle and mobility is a family tradition, passed down from her mother, Liza, who has instilled these values in her from a young age and continues to live them herself. Aliya strives to continue Millie’s legacy by being an example that practicing mobility, posture & strengthening gives you a healthier and longer life.

Join Aliya on the journey to Ageless MoBility and discover the transformative power of stretching for yourself.

“MY WHY”

My grandmother, Millie Cruzat was a Smithsoniam museum honoree, History Maker, professional dancer, stretch & posture coach, street name inductee, model, mother, wife and Chicago community advocate for a healthy lifestyle. Millie lived by the idea that staying mobile throughout the lifespan will increase your lifespan and its quality of it. She lead her life on the pillar of always being her “authentic self”, holding her head high with a beautiful posture, and inspired all by her intangible true grace and poise. She started her career as a dancer in New York, where she later performed in the famous “Shuffle Along”, the first all-Black hit Broadway show. At the noteworthy age of 50, she was asked to join the prestigious professional dance company: Joseph Holmes Dance Theater. A believer that stretching, mobility, and a healthy lifestyle increased her lifespan, in 1983, Millie opened the “Millie Cruzat total Fitness Center”. She then began her stint as an instructor of ballet at Beethoven Elementary School in Chicago, and at the age of 89 she became an instructor for Chicago Contemporary Dance Theater where she taught ballet and posture training to young girls. Until the age of 94 years, Millie taught stretching and mobility classes in her living room to people of vast ages 5-80 years old. She passed her values of stretching on to her 3 kids, and grandkids. Upon her transition in late 2021, she left behind her a Chicago street name, the 2021 Cultural Hero Award, and an unforgettable legacy that her children, grandchildren, and loved ones gracefully live on.
